Scholarship Description

This scholarship supports a leader or emerging leader in a school that caters for children who are deaf and hard of hearing, to undertake the Master of Instructional Leadership. The scholarship provides up to $30,000 in total over the two-year duration of the course. The Master of Instructional Leadership focuses on the impact of evidence-based approaches to the leadership of teaching and learning, with a strong emphasis on research. Students of this program will build skills and knowledge to enhance effective teaching and learning, and contribute to greater student achievement.

Strong or emerging leaders in the field of deaf education within Victoria, who have an express interest in the impact of evidence-based leadership approaches for teaching and learning, are encouraged to apply for this scholarship.  Applicants from both metropolitan and rural areas will be considered.  The successful applicant will build their skills and knowledge to enhance effective teaching and learning, contribute to greater student achievement and improve their school's performance.  The course utilises an action learning model personally based around the candidate’s own attributes and setting. 

Benefits
Up to $30,000 in total over the duration of the course, paid in twice annual instalments.

Eligibility
To be eligible for this scholarship you need to be:
  • an Australian citizen or permanent resident
  • enrolled, or intend to enrol, in the Master of Instructional Leadership 2025 (please refer to the entry requirements for this course by clicking on the link)
  • a leader or emerging leader in a school that caters for children who are deaf and hard of hearing
The scholarship offer will be made under the condition that the successful applicant commit to commence their Master of Instructional Leadership studies at the University of Melbourne in 2025.
 
Selection Criteria
  • Evidence of strong or emerging leadership in the field of deaf education  
  • Evidence of knowledge of inclusive teaching practices and differentiation 
  • Experience and skills in supervising and/or mentoring
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team
  • Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, colleagues and parents   

How to apply
  1. In the first instance, interested applicants should check they meet the Master of Instructional Leadership entry requirements and submit a course application for this program. 
  2. Complete this scholarship application form and attach relevant documentation.  Scholarships applications will close at 11:59 PM on 1 December, 2024.
  3. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to an interview in early December. All applicants will be notified of an outcome by mid-December.
