This
scholarship supports Master of Teaching (Primary) students to undertake international travel opportunities and regional, rural and remote Indigenous placement opportunities that are available as part of their program of study.
Lawrence Kennedy bequeathed his entire estate and the residue of the estate of his late wife Valerie F. Kennedy to the University of Melbourne for the the establishment of bursaries and scholarships (including travelling scholarships) for students who are taking courses of study for preparation as primary school teachers or as mature age students, seeking to qualify as graduates in law of the University of Melbourne. On returning from World War II, Mr Kennedy studied law at the University as a mature age student under the Soldier Re‐settlement Scheme.
Value:
- $100 per domestic placement/WIL day
- $200 per international placement/WIL day
Eligibility
To be eligible to apply for this scholarship you need to be:
- studying the Master of Teaching (Primary) or Master of Teaching (Early Childhood and Primary); AND
- accepted to undertake an international travel placement opportunity OR regional, rural or remote Indigenous placement as part of your program of study
Selection Criteria
Eligible applicants will be assessed on academic merit, commitment to the teaching profession, and motivation for undertaking the travel-related program. Financial need may also be taken into consideration.

Conditions of the scholarship
Should your travel opportunity be unable to proceed, or if you are no longer able to participate, you will not be eligible to receive this scholarship and any monies paid would need to be returned to the University.
